Katie Cook, writer of the new My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic from IDW, has posted an auction on ebay. The auction is for an original piece of art that she did for a variant cover of the first issue of the comic. This cover was exclusive to some comic shops in the Detroit area. She announced the aution on twitter:
Another fun My Little Pony shirt has popped up at a shirt a day site. For the next couple of days over at TeeRaiders for only $10 you can get this cool shirt of a Care Bear that looks like but isn’t actually Grumpy Bear riding a pony that looks a whole lot like Pinkie Pie! What a bizarre crossover!
The shirt’s artist is Rollbiwan. You can check out more of his work at his Redbubble page.
The first issues of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic will be released in just 10 days and it’s already selling like pre-ordered hot cakes! The buzz is so great that there’s already a side series planned. Starting in February 2013 a new micro series focusing on individual ponies will hit stores. The first issue will focus on Twilight Sparkle as she goes on a hunt for a reclusive author Jade Singer. No doubt this character is inspired by the real life reclusive author J. D. Salinger, best know for writing Catcher in the Rye. This six issues series will focus on all six of the main characters. There are already two variant covers!
Speaking of variants, be sure to check out this exhaustive variant cover guide for the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic comic. Issue 1 already has a whopping 19 variants confirmed!

This past Saturday was the season premiere of season 3 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. The story of this first episode centred around a location called The Crystal Empire. A while back when clips of this episode first appeared online someone made this image suggesting a link. While I certainly believe there are visual similarities there I think that now that the full episode has aired we can look at them objectively and see just what does and doesn’t add up.
The similarity in the image above is hard to ignore. These are both cities made of crystal with one large tower in the middle. The Crystal Empire has a road formation made of stars. Crystal Tokyo does not but from this angle we see a diagonal road leading to the tower which makes the two cities seem similar. The structure of the two cities is somewhat similar with the way other buildings are spread out with some grassy areas, but this is not atypical of any city. It should be noted that a view of Crystal Tokyo during the day is somewhat rare. More often than not we saw Crystal Tokyo during a perpetual night as it was all but completely destroyed and occupied by the Black Moon Clan.
The My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic game for mobile devices is now out in the Apple iTunes app store. The Android version is not yet available as of this post going up but we’re expecting it any time now.
Spike suggests you spend a gem, which you can buy with real money, to speed that up…
You should definitely check out the game if you’re a fan of clicking on things and then either waiting really long for something to happen or paying some money to make that virtual accomplishment happen! The game is “free” in a sense that you can absolutely download and play the game for free. You can also use “Gems” to buy special characters, items and buildings as well as to speed up lengthy wait times. You accrue gems somewhat quickly at first but slower and slower as the game progresses. Don’t worry though, there’s an easy way to get gems! You can pay real money for them!
Entertainment Weekly posted a teaser of the two part premiere for Season 3 of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. You can view it on their site. The new episodes will air at 10AM Eastern on The Hub this Saturday. Be sure to tune in!
Here’s a brief story teaser of the 2 parter:
“The Crystal Empire” is an epic two-parter that tasks Twilight Sparkle and her pony pals with restoring the titular kingdom, a powerful realm that mysteriously disappeared from Equestria 1,000 years ago. On the way, Twilight enjoys a reunion with her former babysitter and new sister-in-law Princess Cadance — although the gravity of the situation sort of ruins the mood. As Cadance tells her young friend, “One of these days we need to get together when the fate of Equestria isn’t hanging in the balance.”
A My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic game will soon be available on mobile phones as this iOS and Android compatible game will allow players to recreate their own Ponyville. The game seems like a standard cow clicker village building game. Check out the trailer below.
This trailer instantly reminded me of horrible yet addictive games like Smurf’s village. To get a good idea of what might be in store I did a quick search on the Android store for games by Gameloft and found a ton of games with a similar concept and business model. Their most popular versions seem to be Ice Age Village, Fantasy Town and Cosmic Colony. I tried out Cosmic Colony as it was the least offensive looking of the titles and the concept seems nearly identical to what this new game will be, only without the ponies.
Followers of the blog may remember I did a pretty fun pumpkin carving of Twilight Sparkle last year. One year later, I had the daunting task to figure out a follow up to that fantastic piece. While doing a Google Search of The Great and Powerful Trixie, I happened upon a fantastic small image of Twilight Sparkle confronting the Ursa Minor from the Season 1 episode Boast Busters.
Way back in November of last year, we reported on some rumors that Season 3 only had half as many episodes ordered as the first two seasons. There was concern that Hasbro was worried about the exodus of many prominent people associated with the production of the show. More recently, it was announced that Transformers: Prime also only had a half season order for its third season. Some light was shed on the situation during a conference call discussing the company’s 2012 Q3 financial results. These shows seem to be victims of their own success. Read on after the jump to hear the details.
Entertainment Weekly got the scoop. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will premiere Season 3 on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10 AM. The article does not say what time zone that is, but times are usually given as EST. The article goes on to give some more details about season 3 and the opening 2 parter featuring the ancient Crystal Empire that suddenly appears after a millennium of going missing. Meghan McCarthy is mentioned as saying that the season will prominently feature Twilight advancing in her studies as well as the ‘reemergance of a certain unnamed fan favorite villain’.
Since Twilight is BEST pony, I am certainly looking forward to what is in store for Season 3. And since John de Lancie has already confirmed that he has done some additional voice work for the show, it is not too far of a stretch to guess that his character, Discord, will return!
